The Model UC232A USB adapter lets PC users add an additional serial port for RS-232 connections.
Universal Serial Bus (USB) port technology has emerged in response to the proliferation ofexternal peripheral devices (scanners, digital cameras, removable drives, etc.), that are increasingly being connected to the latest generation of PCs. USB behaves in a similar fashion to conventional bus ports (i.e., serial, parallel, PS/2) but, since it does not require any IRQs, more devices can be attached to the system, and the problem of IRQ conflict is eliminated.
The Model UC232A USB Serial Adapter provides an external plug-and-play RS-232 serial connection with your computer, letting you free up your existing serial port. Users have the capability to utilize the adapter with serial port interface in an easy-to-use environment. The adapter is designed for connections to cellular phones, PDAs, digital cameras, modems, or ISDN terminal adapters through your USB port with up to 230 kbps data transfer rate.
Installation is easy. Simply plug a serial device into the Model UC232A adapter and plug the USB port into the computer. No IRQs are needed so there are no IRQ or COM port conflicts.
